Bathgate’s Ian Adams to take on London Marathon for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd

Bathgate Business Finance BDM and Director, Ian Adams, will take on the London Marathon in 2027 to raise vital funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, which provides specialist palliative care for people in Cheshire, South Wirral and North Wales.

Ian said: “Having last experienced running the London Marathon over 15 years ago, I am excited to have the chance to run this event again and support this incredible charity. I completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon with Paul Trickett for Melanoma UK, and I am keen to see how the old body stands up to the full 26.2 miles. I’m looking forward to experiencing the fantastic atmosphere on the day and standing on the start line and I guess I now need to do some training. The hospice does amazing work, and I am so pleased to have been given the opportunity to support them.”

Ian’s challenge is a continuation of Bathgate’s support for the charity, following in colleague Chris McLoughlin’s fancy footsteps after he took to the dancefloor as one of the contestants in Hospice Strictly 2026 last month, an event which raised £83,000, with final donations still being counted.

Speaking of his Hospice Strictly experience, Chris said: “It was definitely up there with one of the best things I have ever done. I didn’t come home with the glitter ball, but I’m proud of my 30/40 score and some fantastic comments from the judges. But the most important achievement was the money raised to support the hospice’s ongoing and vital work. I’m really grateful to everyone who donated and who cheered all of the contestants on.”

Bathgate also supported the hospice by raising £5,000 at its annual wine tasting event at The Old Palace Chester in December last year.

Bathgate places community at the heart of everything it does, and supporting charitable causes that help people in the North West is core to its ethos. In the past year it has also helped to deliver the Liverpool Sportswoman’s Lunch 2026, which raised £XX for the Owen McVeigh Foundation, The Cheshire Sportswoman’s Lunch, which raised £14,000 for The Joshua Tree, and has supported The Hive, Caldy RFC, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Claire House and Liverpool Cathedral through donations, sponsorship and volunteering.
