Paul raises more than £1,600 for “Run the Railways” challenge

On Saturday 1st March, our BDM Paul Trickett ran a fantastic 20 miles as part of Alex Rigby’s “Run the Railways” challenge for Centre 56, raising more than £1,600.

The challenge saw Centre 56 Fundraising Officer, Alex Rigby run 107 miles and 96 stations on the Merseyrail Wirral and Northern Line network, becoming the first person ever to do this.

Alex began the challenge at 3pm on Friday 28th at Chester station. Paul joined Alex at Waterloo station as a relay representative and carried the baton to Seaforth & Litherland, before carrying on with runners to the end of the route at Hunts Cross station.

During the run, Paul hit his £1,500 fundraising target, contributing to the total raised so far of more than £40,000, with gift aid and bucket collections from along the route still to be added, meaning that Alex has already smashed his £35k goal.

Paul said: “Saturday was a really special day and it was an honour to carry the baton from Waterloo to Seaforth & Litherland. I would like to thank everyone who has donated or who came out to support all the runners from the bottom of my heart.

“I also want to congratulate Alex on his amazing achievement, running 107 miles over more than 27 hours and still crossing that finishing line with a smile on his face. Your efforts, not just completing the challenge, but rallying so many people behind the cause, is going to make an enormous difference to the lives of so many families.!

Centre 56 is a unique charity based in Kirkdale, which supports families who have experienced domestic abuse or crisis situations. The charity puts children first, noting the profound impact that witnessing abuse can have on their development and confidence, and provides a safe, nurturing space for them to learn to process these experiences.
