Charity Boxing Tournament Raises £3,000

Bathgate enjoyed a ‘knockout’ evening at the ninth Maxi Roy ‘Noble Art’ Memorial Boxing Tournament.

The annual charity fundraiser, held at Leasowe Castle is organised and hosted by Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club chairman and MD of the Forshaw Group, Liam Hanlon. After eleven gripping fights, showcasing the calibre of contestants’ skills, Sam Stott was named champion, with Bathgate BDM, Paul Trickett, presenting him with his award.

The event raised almost £3,000, which will help to fund all activities at Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club, including supporting young boxers through medical examinations, providing kit and equipment to train and represent the club and helping to cover coach training costs and all safeguarding compliance that is required.

As well as the main event, there was entertainment, a fundraising raffle and music from Liverpool Live Radio presenter, Roy Basnett, that kept guests dancing into the night.

Paul said: “Events like this are a fantastic way to bring local businesses and charities together to support organisations like Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club to continue their valuable work supporting their communities.”

The event was sponsored by The Forshaw Group and a host of other local businesses and community groups. Bathgate Business Finance were very proud to support as ringside sponsors for the night.
