Bathgate Boys Smash London Landmarks Half Marathon for Melanoma UK

Bathgate BDMs Paul Trickett and Ian Adams took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 2nd April to raise funds for Melanoma UK.

Both smashed their personal bests, with Ian completing the course in 1 hour 41 minutes and Paul not far behind on 1 hour 57 minutes.

Their incredible efforts raised more than £3,300 for Melanoma UK, which will be used to purchase seven Dermlite DL200 Hybrid dermatoscopes, which are used to examine skin and diagnose skin cancers.

The new scopes, which is one of the most popular scopes available, will be put into the hands of local GPs, to help them identify skin cancers earlier

Speaking after the race, Paul said: “What a blast it was, the sore limbs post race were well worth it! Ian and I are extremely humbled and thankful to all of you who supported us and made very generous donations for Melanoma UK. We were both so proud of our efforts and delighted that the money will be put to excellent use.

Ian added: Pain and elation are how I would describe crossing the line and we are chuffed at the amount raised, Melanoma UK is a cause close to my heart as a family member had a malignant melanoma. Thankfully they identified this early enough, but many are not as lucky. It’s great to know that by raising money to provide GPs with dermatoscopes we are helping at least some people to get a vital earlier diagnosis.”
